Jazz the Jewel of the World Play

Jazz the Jewel of the World Play is a musical tribute to Jazz from the 1800s, when Africa had its first beat, to the Present Day. 2024.  We will take a journey from the 1800s, when we first heard the symbols of music, to the present day. We will travel through ragtime, swing, blues, Latin jazz, and neo-jazz and how some of the music travels back around again. We will take a stop in the 1940s and visit the Cotton Club right here in Augusta, Georgia, to the Lennox Theatre, and in North Augusta, SC, at the Palmetto Park and Pond. We will meet the amazing people of the past such as Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway and his sister Blanche. We will also travel with the green book  and visit the towns on the Chitlin circuit which is now North Augusta.  Learn your history and enjoy the jazz journey.
